What do we make of Chelsea Football Club and the embarrassing poor run of the English premier league reigning champion in the 2015/16 season?
Couples of bad results and the pressure is on you to deliver. No one is paying you for drama at that stage but to deliver. When all you can do is find excuses for 7 losses in 12 games, then you know the spotlight is on you. The football association is not the problem, the referees are not the problem here nor the media. It is the manager and the players that are the main reason why a league champion would have the worst start in the premier league era.
At some point, I believe Roman Abramovich (Chelsea owner) has to have an honest discussion with Mourinho. This relationship is not working out, even if the fans wants you here but this is already a perpetual omen for the club. “You have everything at your disposal and we have find ourselves in this hot mess, I don’t think this is the kind of club I want to build”. Everyone is perplexed at the moment why José still have a job. Roman is known not to be this patient. Since 2004 Roman bought the club he has sacked 10 managers despite temporary dip in form from successful managers.
It is inconceivable that one of best managers in the game would be having this terrible strings of bad results. What is the root cause of this nightmare? Even the mighty stumble but they do not fall too flat they cannot recover. How long would José need? How many matches will he be given to save his club? What is the next move? Chelsea has a crop of the best players in the game with no major injuries but this is all going too bad for everyone, even for the game.
Is Chelsea being unlucky? Sometime you need a bit of luck and couples of wins to get your groove back and going. In my opinion, I believe the players have not worked really hard to maintain the form of last season. I believe luck is closer to those who have worked harder to stay on top of their game. Complacency is a viral disease that can easily inflict a bad spell on an entire team and consequently causes you lose your mojo. The fact that you are the champions last season does not give automatic win-win in the current season if you fail to up your game.
It is so painful when it appears the team is playing good football but the results are not adding up. As everyone is waiting for Roman to swing his axe, what can Mourinho do to turn his recent bad fortunes? Well I think the conundrum floats in the arena of arrogance and ignorance. I feel Mourinho needs to apologize to staff, colleagues or players he has victimized especially Eva Carneiro, the Gibraltar-born British sports medicine specialist who is best known for serving as the first-team doctor of Chelsea from 2009 to 2015. She was one of the victims of Mourinho’s excuse witch-hunting. Looks like mister is straight outta excuse.
What do you do when it seems you doing the best you know but your business is collapsing or your marriage is in shambles or your career is bad news? As I have recommended for José, first deal with all bad blood in your team or among your circle. Make peace with yourself. Continue doing your best, leverage from those hitting targets, stay out of troubles, and hold on. Set your mindset to that of a winner and expect positive results. We are in the result business. Nobody cares how hard you work, the scoreboard is all that matters. Get your A-team and A-game on board. Get that result!
